Our Mission

POW! is an incredible program in so many ways. It’s genuinely all ages, so my toddler and my second grader can both have a great time. It’s brought us a sense of genuine community with other families with children with disabilities, and that community has been invaluable as we learn how to support our kids’ development.

It has been a real blessing for our son to socialize with so many different and diverse kids. The wide variety of activities in the schedule every week are so wonderful, also—lots of creativity, movement, & socialization (for the parents as well as the kids!). Going is something our whole family looks forward to for the weekends. Being with other children is vital for development, and POW has really helped us connect with others.

POW has a wide range of activities that my kid loves, especially art time. Every weekend he’s excited to go to POW to hang out with his friends and make art and play soccer. I love that POW is inclusive of kids with different abilities so my kid can get to know and feel comfortable around a diverse group of friends. POW has a gentle, encouraging, enthusiastic vibe that I really appreciate. It’s a highlight of our week and I’m so grateful for it.

My child has developed more of an interest in music, dancing, soccer and art! This has been wonderful to see our daughter blossom and be inspired! It’s wonderful to have a program that fosters community and the feeling that you belong! It’s a place that you can feel comfortable and let your child be themselves.

The program is unique for kids in that there are moments of one-on-one activity with compassionate adult mentors. This is just no comparison to having thirty kids in one school classroom, or a hundred kids in the after school program that my kid attends. This program is not like any other, and my whole family loves it. I'm so grateful that POW exists and that inclusivity is at the core of the program.

My child learned to celebrate and accept individual differences and to applaud all successes and efforts. He learned to play and dance and do art and soccer for the fun and joy of the activity instead of an imposed competition or right or wrong way that so many programs impose. The program and leaders are competent and professional and keep the joy in the learning.

She loves all programs: art, dance, soccer, tutoring and many different activities. Her favorite activity is dance. POW programs give her the opportunity to socialize with peers, meet friends, play, learn, and develop a variety of skills. We can't imagine a weekend without Pow! I would like to thank the volunteers, the hosts for their work, time and heart.

We have found the program at POW to be greatly inclusive and inspirational. For my 5 year old, who is neurotypical and me, the social, educational and personal development has been invaluable. We are all able to create a better society when we appreciate all of the nuances that make us different. We value knowing children with neurological challenges, but it is also fun. We loved participating as a family in dance, art and soccer.

POW has supported my family by creating a place of inclusion in my community. The feeling of belonging is so important for so many reasons for both parent and child. POW has also created a support system for parents like myself to share with each other and to feel educated on different options that are out there for our kids. The programs at POW help stimulate my kids from a mental and physical standpoint and create a place for them to just be themselves.
